Line up the oxen

Politicians on both sides are arguing about heartless spending cuts vs. no new taxes. Neither is giving. What are we to do?

We have two choices: One is to continue our current course. This will eventually lead to the total collapse of the dollar and a worldwide depression that would cause fear, hunger and suffering not known since the Middle Ages. Or, we can pull our collective heads out of the sand and acknowledge that we cannot afford the many benefits our politicians have granted us in their never-ending efforts to get re-elected.

Welfare recipients, the elderly, teachers and public employees will face hardship, and those who already pay the vast majority of taxes will have to pay even more – a great deal more. Everyone will demand that their need is the only worthy one, but we cannot be selective and accomplish this.

Everyone’s ox must be gored. Anything less will only prolong the time before we collapse and make it even more painful. Be sure to thank your senators and representative at the polls for these wonderful choices. Their actions for the past 50 years have gotten us into this situation, all in the name of re-election.
