at press conference in 1963): “I met her. She came to San Francisco to speak to the Commonwealth Club when my father was its President. Since I spoke French, he took me with him to meet her at the airport. With her was her daughter, about my age (maybe the one who died in 1967), with whom I got to visit after the limo dropped us at her hotel. My faux pas: asking what kind of music and dances they liked in Vietnam — they were not allowed to dance.”
