Thank you for the informative Q & A from Mary Verner and David Condon in the July 24 paper. A citizens group calling themselves “We Believe – We Vote” also interviewed the mayoral candidates, as well as all the leading candidates in contested offices in Spokane County, for the primary and general elections.

The survey questions were designed to determine which candidates would better represent the faith community when making policy decisions or serving on a school board. Most candidates were gracious and generously gave their time to meet with members of this diverse group.

The Spokesman-Review invites original letters on local topics of public interest. Your letter must adhere to the following rules:

  • No more than 250 words
  • We reserve the right to reject letters that are not factually correct, racist or are written with malice.
  • We cannot accept more than one letter a month from the same writer.
  • With each letter, include your daytime phone number and street address.
  • The Spokesman-Review retains the nonexclusive right to archive and re-publish any material submitted for publication.
