Divided we fall

For some time now, I have felt that divided government was a good idea so that one party didn’t have too much power. However, we have become such a divided country, with extreme political divisions, that it is apparent that nothing much can get done anymore.

I have also complained in the past that our congressmen don’t care about what is best for the country and don’t vote on their own principles, and just do what their leaders tell them to do.

Well, it is apparent that this is exactly what the tea party caucus is doing. Voting their principles and telling their leadership what to do instead.

I might find this commendable, however, in this case they are harming our country and just being plain stubborn. I am sure they will go down in history as bringing some fiscal conservatism to this country and it is much needed. However, I am worried about the deep cuts that will have to be made and we will all have to do some sacrificing. Some more than others, except the ones who can afford it. So far, I see no sacrifice required on their part. It is just not fair.
