Cool it on energy use
Sometimes I am puzzled by our inability to solve even easy problems. We all are, or should be, concerned about our excessive use of energy. And yet, all of our stores and restaurants are overcooled by, arguably, 5 degrees, which is unnecessary, uncomfortable, unhealthy and wastes a lot of energy.
We could solve this on a voluntary basis, if we are too chicken to do it with the force of law. We do not have to go as far as Switzerland, where they prohibit cooling beyond a certain specified amount; but they do know how to solve problems over there.
