Idaho delegation disappoints

An open letter to the Idaho congressional delegation: Thank you for nothing! What part of the words “compromise, bipartisan and cooperation” do you not understand? You wait until the last minute to agree on a debt ceiling bill, which only “kicks the can down the road”!

Then the stock market drops, followed by S&P downgrading the U.S. credit rating to AA+, accompanied by S&P’s explanation that the reason is your lack of willingness to work together politically.

You refuse to consider any tax code changes. This current asset loss in retirement funds in the stock market is greater than any tax increase recently suggested. No new taxes means you prefer to tax people by watching their retirement savings evaporate (again).

Please put away your political agenda and get to work to save our country for all generations. Everything needs to be on the table. We need big spending cuts, entitlement reform (not elimination), and revenue enhancements. We all must share in this sacrifice.

I’m not pro-Democrat – both sides are acting irresponsibly. I am part of the 82 percent who think Congress is doing a terrible job. As an independent voter, my vote cannot be taken for granted.
