Spokane’s Career Path Services honored for workplace practices

Career Path Service s has won 2011’s Alfred P. Sloan award for business excellence in workplace flexibility.

The Spokane firm was cited for its flexibility as an effective workplace strategy to increase business and employee success. Founded in 1971, the nonprofit company helps individuals and organizations meet their employment goals. It’s funded by federal, state and other grants.
The award is part of the national When Work Works project recognizing firms from across the country.
“It is an honor to receive this award, it represents the comments and ratings of our employees,” said George Iranon, CEO of Career Path Services.  “Our corporate culture is one of performance excellence, trust, timelines, respect, appreciation, and teamwork.  We are proud our employees like being a part of our organization.”
Workplace flexibility—such as flextime, part-time work and compressed workweeks—has been demonstrated to help businesses remain competitive while also benefiting employees as well.

“Our research consistently finds that employees in effective and flexible workplaces have greater engagement on the job and greater desire to stay with their organization. In addition, they report lower stress levels and better overall health,” said Ellen Galinsky, president of Families and Work Institute (FWI), a research think tank on workforce and workplace trends that administers the awards.

Her comments were in a press release provided by Career Path Services.
