Rein in corporations

It is reported that the Wall Street lobbying firm of Clark, Lytle, Geduldig & Cranford (CLG&C), started by former associates of House Speaker John Boehner, has proposed to the American Bankers Association that they will conduct a negative media campaign against the Occupy Wall Street movement for an $850,000 payment.

This is a brazen example of how the United States has become politically polarized by corporate lobbyists. The big Wall Street banks earned their negative reputations by fraudulent, deceptive and illegal business practices. CLG&C portraying legitimate peaceful protesters hurt by the economic crisis as malcontents does not lead to the business practice reform sought by the majority.

This proposal by CLG&C demonstrates the corruption of governance caused by K Street lobbyists using huge sums of corporate money. Most of this money is from corporations with a political agenda that does not benefit the general good of the nation or the public, only their bottom lines.

It is time for an amendment to our Constitution that states, “Corporations are not people and money is not free speech.” This is an initiative that needs to be brought to Washington voters in the 2012 election to start the process to amend the U. S. Constitution.
