Leach meets the Pullman faithful
COUGARS
Just a quick note now that I am where I can write following the Mike Leach introductory meet-and-greet. Actually, the last part of it was a press conference – after the cheering stopped. Read on.

• We’re going to get into what Leach had to say in more depth in our stories, but I can pass along something I learned. This wasn’t Leach’s preferred stop the last month or so. It’s been his preferred stop for the last little while. He was intrigued by the Pac-12 in general but more than that, he was intrigued by Washington State’s potential. He didn’t come out and say that, of course, but he alluded to it a lotwhile answering questions. His football chief of staff, the only guy who is officially on board, David Emerick, talked with me for a while about Leach and that was something he shared. So when athletic director Bill Moos said Leach was the only guy he wanted and Leach wanted WSU, it wasn’t hyperbole. … Leach will meet with the players and the coaching staff this afternoon – he made it pretty clear he has his own guys that he’s worked with over the years and that’s who he wants on this staff – then jet over to Seattle later for a press conference there. He’ll then get on a plane tomorrow for Key West to get his house in order and expects to back this weekend, hopefully with a couple assistants in tow.

• That’s it for now. We’ll be back in a couple hours with our stories. Until then …
