Monday morning in Spokane. Attended a party, and an after-party party, last night. Though we woke up early this morning, there was no way we could stare at a computer screen for an hour or so. But time passes and the vision clears. Read on.

• Washington State: Many thanks to Josh Wright for covering the Cougars’ 93-55 dismantling of Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon, allowing me to attend the funereal retirement bash for myself and the other 10 souls leaving the S-R when the year ends. At least there was a wake afterward. … Freelancer Howie Stalwick also covered the game for the News Tribune.

• Around the Pac-12: Bowl preparations are getting into full swing for those lucky enough to have earned one with a winni – er, forgot about UCLA before I began writing “winning record.” The Bruins are getting ready for their bowl with a 6-7 record but without run-game coordinator Jim Mastro, who is set to join Mike Leach’s staff. … Oregon is gearing up for another Rose Bowl, this one against Wisconsin. … The Huskies have to deal with Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III in the Alamo Bowl. … ASU is still interviewing coaching candidates, though it looks as is Kyle Whittingham is being taken off the table. … No bowl in Tucson, but recruits are visiting. … In basketball, we forgot to link ASU’s win over North Dakota State from Saturday night. … Cal won big yesterday against outmanned Jackson State.
