Land of the free?

While we are outraged over our economic conditions and we look around at who is to blame, we ignore a very real threat to our freedom. The United States Congress is working on a defense bill that would add new language concerning the detention of U.S. citizens and terror suspects on U.S. soil.

Even if you do not like the ACLU and other civil liberties groups, you should heed their warnings when they say that it does not stop the military from detaining U.S. citizens.

President Barack Obama said he would veto the bill in its current form, but what is to stop any president in the future from imprisoning members of the tea party, Occupy Wall Street protesters, or even leaders from the opposition political parties for being terror suspects?

I grew up being told this is the land of the free and home of the brave. So much for that idea!
