Clark needs to grow up
Regarding Doug Clark’s Dec. 18 parody of the Otto Zehm tragedy: Clark, you bring shame to the newspaper and our community. You consistently use cheap insults and third-grade humor, making no attempt at logic or quality satire. This juvenile writing adds nothing constructive and damages the healing process.
Police must act decisively with lives on the line, and the large majority serves us well. They are rarely thanked for a job well done, but quickly condemned when things go wrong.
A grave injustice was exacted on Zehm. Subsequent actions by police and Assistant City Attorney Rocco Treppiedi violated the public trust. We need reform, which will only happen if the Spokane community and our police work together with mutual respect.
Clark tries to cast himself as a silly but noble knight, his opponents as evil trolls. His lowbrow humor shows no intelligence or empathy, instead revealing a two-bit bully only capable of throwing rocks. Attempting to portray every opponent as a malevolent idiot, he unwittingly seizes that role himself.
Clark, if you wish to write satire, I suggest you read Benchley and Royko. Instead, I expect a response along the lines of “neener, neener,” or “I know you are but what am I.”
