• Washington State: Really don’t have much to pass on, links-wise, other than some peripherally related items, like Lorenzo Romar saying Monday the Huskies should have gotten the ball inside more against the Cougars. But there is a bit of recruiting news, as Cougfan reported yesterday WSU received commitments from two California players, middle linebacker Darryl Paulo from Grant High in Sacramento and 6-foot-6, 340-pound offensive lineman Wendell Talese from Oakland’s McClymonds High. The first day of the signing period is Wednesday.

• Around the Pac-10: With the loss to Washington State, the Huskies fell in both polls. … Arizona, on the other hand, is now ranked in both. … A mountain out of a marmot den? That’s seemingly what is being made of Nikola Vucevic’s comments after USC’s loss at Arizona. The Trojans match up with UCLA this week. … Speaking of USC, the Trojans’ recruiting hasn’t seemed to be affected much by the NCAA sanctions. … Is Oregon State still getting the players it needs to be successful? … Yesterday was the last day given to four California sports to either raise enough money to fund themselves for years, or be cut. No news out of Berkeley however. …
