Reject misinformation

I am a conservative voter, and, like everyone else, our family has felt the pinch of this recession. That said, I resolutely support the Central Valley schools’ construction bond on the current ballot. The “No” campaign signs have only bolstered my support, as they clearly rely on misinformation.

The “No” signs say, “NO to another $100 million bond.” CV’s bond is for $69 million – that’s a huge $31 million exaggeration. The word “another” suggests other recent school bonds – the facts dispute this. CVSD voters haven’t passed a bond in 12 years, which hardly represents excess in a district serving 12,450-plus kids. In fact, when this bond passes, the total tax rate will still be 92 cents less than it was when the last bond passed.

Don’t be fooled by the “No” sign exaggerations. That campaign is misinformed, self-interested and short-sighted. Supporting schools will accelerate the revitalization of our local economy, bolster our property values, and improve education and safety across the entire district. Before you vote, please become informed and join me in voting yes for the CV school bond.
