Meters are malls’ best friend
I guess there is no intelligence quotient requirement for a Spokane City Council president. Joe Shogan’s support of $25 fines for those who show up late for their parking meter time displays illogical thinking.
Punish me, Joe, for taking more time to spend money at downtown businesses assisting in the revitalization of the downtown market area.
Joe says, we’re not raising the meter fees; this is a fine for those who let the meters run out of time. If I have not had a total brain fade, Mr. Shogan wants me to go spend my funds at the malls and stay away from Riverside Avenue. It’s free parking at those stores.
Mr. Council President, use your noggin. Taking more time to spend money downtown without clobbering people’s wallets and purses might increase tax flow to the city coffers and make downtown businesses put a smile on their faces. Wouldn’t that be a novel idea?
