Arizona beckons WSU this week

One day of practice then it’s on to Arizona for the Washington State Cougars. The longest road trip of the Pac-10 year starts Thursday night in Tucson. We’ll be there. But before we leave tomorrow, a lot to get done, starting with this morning’s post. Read on.

• Washington State: Not sure how happy anyone will be to read this, but we had this brief in the paper this morning (second item). … The Cougars first opponent on the Arizona swing is now ranked 12th in the nation, something the players crowed about a little Monday. Think the Wildcats, 13-0 at home, might look past the Cougars to UW on Saturday?

• Around the Pac-10: The conference player of the week was Isaiah Thomas. It was the Husky point guard’s third award this season. Hard work does pay off. … A former Oregon basketball coach likes what he sees . … Finally, this news might have big implications for the Pac-12. More bidders usually means more money on the table.
