Eagles up 30-26 at intermission
Eastern Washington overcame some poor shooting early in the game and eight missed free throws to take a 30-26 lead at halftime of its ESPN BracketBusters matchup against Cal State Northridge at Reese Court on Saturday night.
Sophmore point guard Glen Dean finished the half with eight points for Eastern, which also got five points, each, from Kevin Winford and Jeffrey Forbes. The Eagles, who made only 2 of their first 11 shots from the field, finished the period 11-for-28, but made only four of 12 free throws.
Lenny Daniel put together a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double in the first 20 minutes of the game, and appears unstoppable from inside. The Matadors’ 6-foot-8 senior forward was 5-for-9 from the floor and also blocked a couple of shots.
He had all but 10 of CSUN’s first-half points.
