Ego conquers duty

New York congressman Christopher Lee must have let his ego overpower his sense of duty and his place in the world. Oh wait, he’s a politician. They are all egomaniacs.

I think I speak for most of “the great unwashed” when I say, when one assumes the mantle of public life, particularly on a national scale, everything they do becomes public knowledge.

In this case, a representative of the Republican Party – you know, the self-acclaimed keepers of the moral compass, God and country – seems to have thought himself immune from the light he would shine on others’ behaviors.

Let all public officials, no matter the political stripe remember to lead by shining example and not the tarnished “do as I say” rhetoric.

Are we right to judge these people by what they do in their private life? Yes, because they want to regulate what we do in our private life.
