Looking ahead to UW
COUGARS
Just wanted to pass along our advance for tomorrow’s game. That and we wanted to look at today’s Pac-10 results and what they meant to the Cougars. … UCLA’s 71-49 win over Arizona moves the Bruins into a tie for first and gives third-place Washington hope, albeit not that bright a hope, that it can still win at least a share of the conference title. The 10th-ranked Wildcats certainly won’t be 10th-ranked come Monday. … USC’s 62-46 win over Arizona State moves the Trojans to 9-7, a half-game ahead of California (9-8) for fourth. … Cal rallied to take out Oregon State, 87-76, and has one game left, a home contest with Stanford. … The Cardinal helped WSU the most today, dominating Oregon 88-71, meaning no matter what happens tomorrow in Seattle, the Cougars will be at least tied with the Ducks (7-9) for sixth. As we type this, WSU is alone in that key spot. But being the three teams the Cougars have still to play – Washington, UCLA and USC – are, respectively, third, tied-for-first and fourth in the standings, the task ahead is pretty tough. The three teams have also combined to win their last seven consecutive games.
