• Washington State: Quite a bit to pass along, including my advance story that we posted last night. … Josh Wright also covered the women’s game from Pullman for us, though the outcome was the same as it’s been for the past 133 years. … Back to the men, The Times’ Bud Withers has a feature today on DeAngelo Casto. Being intimately aware of the circumstances surrounding Casto’s high school career – Spokane’s prep scene was my beat before moving on to Pullman – there are a couple of points I would disagree with. Still, it’s worth reading. … Steve Kelley has a column in the Times about Lorenzo Romar and Ken Bone – I’m looking at the printed version right now – that I can’t find on-line. When I do, I’ll pass it along. … Percy Allen has this advance as does Tacoma’s Don Ruiz. …  Dave Boling’s column in the News Tribune is about what the Huskies learned from the loss to WSU. … Jeff Nusser continues his series on the basektabll season at CougCenter. … Finally, Cougfan notes WSU’s Zack Williams has done well in the “measurables” at the NFL draft combine.

• Around the Pac-10: We passed along the results last night and how they affected the standings (with a win tonight, Washington State would be alone in sixth; a loss and the Cougars are tied with Oregon and a half-game ahead of Stanford heading into the final week). … California, which manhandled Oregon State in the second half en route to an 87-76 victory , and USC, which had no trouble against Arizona State, winning 62-46 at the Galen Center (ASU has never won there), did themselves the most good this weekend, sweeping and moving into fifth and fourth place, respectively. … One fan did, however, remind the Bears of their huge financial defeat recently, and how the Ducks have money to burn. … Oregon had the worst weekend – no, wait, that honor goes to Arizona – by losing twice, Saturday to Stanford 88-71, as the Cardinal snapped a four-game losing streak. … As for Arizona, the Wildcats still control their destiny – defeat the Oregon schools at home next week and they earn at least a share of the title – despite not showing up for the final 30 minutes Saturday in Westwood. The Bruins closed “old” Pauley Pavilion in style, with John Wooden’s great-grandson scoring the final two points. I knew the Pac-10 was honor college basketball’s greatest coach this year, but this seems to made-for-TV-movie-ish for even a old softy like me. … And that’s it.
