Dose of reality

Health care, when stripped of emotion and rhetoric, is really no different than any other good or service. It is certainly not a “right,” and government should not be in the business of providing it to the masses.

If Obama Care is allowed to continue to fruition, it will be a disaster. The dollar cost, unintended consequences and encroachment on liberty will be without equal in American history.

The Founders did not establish or envision a nanny state where the fruits of one’s labor are forcibly taken by the government and given directly to others in the form of cash payments, housing, food, child care, tuition, extended unemployment checks, transportation and numerous other necessities and comforts of life. A once noble desire for the government to take care of the widow, orphan and truly poor has morphed into a greedy, self-righteous monster that creates a reliance on the state rather than self for an ever-growing percentage of the people.

Is the “American Dream” now to be taken care of from cradle to grave by a government that robs a fellow citizen on your behalf? For the sake of our country and our collective futures, I hope not.
