Monday morning and it’s time for a moment of silence. … You have to be of a certain generation, but losing Jack LaLanne yesterday at age 96 is a blow. Three black-and-white TV images stand out from childhood: Captain Kangaroo’s mustache, Sheriff John’s hat and Jack LaLanne’s muscles. It’s funny, when my dad would make fun of LaLanne’s exercise routines, my sainted mother, who seemed to watch religiously without exercising much, never said a word. Curious. OK, back to Washington State. Read on.

• Washington State: Bill Moos has been on the job as WSU’s athletic director for about nine months. Long enough to have a baby, maybe, but has it been long enough to turn the S.S. Cougar around? Bud Withers examines that in a column this morning. … The Arizona Daily Star has a couple follow ups to the Wildcats win over Washington State on Saturday and both center upon two players who haven’t been highly visible parts of their success this year, Kyle Fogg and Jamelle Horne . … And that’s about it concerning WSU this morning.
