A quiet Tuesday at WSU

COUGARS

A quiet start to the week in Pullman, though it will start getting louder tomorrow. Washington State’s Klay Thompson is up for Seattle male sports star of the year, an award that will be announced tomorrow night at the Seattle Sports Commission’s annual banquet. And there’s Sunday game with Washington to get prepared for. So it will heat up. But it’s not all that warm today, so read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: As I said, not that much. Not even any recruiting news as, according to Cougfan, even Bishop Sankey’s not talking about his visit to Washington over the weekend. So about all we have is speculation. And we don’t do that here.

•••

• Around the Pac-10: Once again the Huskies’ Isaiah Thomas was the Pac-10 player of the week and Washington moved up in the polls. That’s the good news for the conference. The bad news is UW is the only ranked team. The lack of depth may make NCAA trips few and far between. … OSU hasn’t enjoyed the last couple trips to the Bay Area. … Maybe everything wasn’t as smooth underneath as it seemed on the surface with Bryce Jones and USC. … It certainly isn’t with Stafon Johnson and the school. He’s suing it over his weight-lifting mishap. (Like the smooth segue to football there?) … The long football season might have been a slight detriment to Oregon basketball. … So what’s up at UCLA and the Norm Chow departure ? … And what’s going on at Cal with the offensive coordinator position?

•••

• That’s all for this morning. If you bet the under yesterday, you lost. But is it kind of cheating when you’re doing a pushup, your arms are fully extended and your stomach is still on the ground? … Coach Ken Bone is still doing his Pac-10 call today, so we’ll be back after that. Until then …
