Caring citizens crafted bond

I just received a third yellow flier from an opposition group attempting to derail the Mead capital bond. Citizens for Responsible Taxation claims to love our kids and wants to keep them free from the bondage of debt. Interestingly enough, that is exactly why I joined with 12 other Mead community members to develop the aforementioned bond.

I was skeptical when asked to join the Facilities Planning Committee. I mean, when was the last time a public entity asked you how you want to spend your money?

Our committee spent over a year developing the bond. We always focused on balancing the needs of our kids with fiscal responsibility. As a representative group, we determined the focus and direction of our district and our tax dollars.

I am flabbergasted by this out-of-district group’s viral attack on a bond measure that was so thoughtfully and respectfully put together. CFRT made no attempt to register their concerns prior to turning their opinions into “facts.”

The fact is that this bond was developed by and for the people of Mead, and has been open and transparent to Mead patrons. The fact is that we love our kids and will be responsible for their future.
