Fund pitch lulls voters
The Mead School District is promoting their bond issue with the buzz words, “this does not raise taxes.” True, they are not raising taxes but extending taxes at a time when the local economy is struggling. Also, it is a little misleading by sounding a lot like an operations and maintenance levy, which it is not. They will put another ballot issue before us next year for that.
Make no mistake, the school district is a bureaucracy like any other form of government that promotes itself by spending taxpayer money. They pad their projects, hoping we will buy it. If we don’t, then they will come back with more realistic numbers.
I am voting no.
