Future Ironman shows mettle

The Jan. 16 article on Tom Aylward’s pursuit of an Ironman finish was fascinating. It is always inspiring when a person sets a seemingly impossible goal and then goes about making it happen.

I would like to further encourage him by suggesting a slight revision in his daily image about crossing the finish line. He will not be alone even if it is late, raining, cold or all three. There will be hundreds of people there in the stands cheering and hollering for him as he runs down Sherman Avenue to the finish line.

It is an incredible experience and the spectator support is fantastic. I sincerely hope he reaches his goal and enjoys it to the fullest. I’ll be there to cheer him on. Go, Tom!
