Too much tea

So is Cathy McMorris Rodgers a leader in the Republican majority or isn’t she? She votes lockstep with the tea party Republican leadership.

Yesterday I received a mailer from Cathy that outright lies about her party’s agenda. In the mailer she claims that “both sides” agree that Medicare benefits won’t change regardless of which party is in charge. Not true by a long stretch.

The Ryan bill includes three pages that replace Medicare with a voucher system that averages $6,000. But Cathy’s flier would have you believe that the Republicans and Democrats would arrive at the same place via different routes. Obviously untrue.

She also claims to have enjoyed meeting us at her open houses in Spokane. Really? I looked for public events the last time she was in town. All of her “open” houses were invitation-only events. This new Republican Party seems bent on talking only to its tea party base and creating its own reality out of whole cloth.

You represent more than the tea party, Cathy. You also represent a lot of people who check the facts and can’t be so easily misled.
