Condon is a bad fit
For all of those who enjoy riding bikes in Spokane, we know the one candidate in the race for mayor who is not bicycle friendly, and that is David Condon. He was quoted in The Spokesman Review, saying, “What are we doing? We’re chasing political fads. We’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on bike lanes. We’re putting crushed glass in medians, and to what end.”
He obviously doesn’t try to get around town on a bicycle the way many of us do.
For a city that promotes itself as “Near Nature, Near Perfect” and promotes healthy activities with groups such as Step up Spokane, Spokefest, and the city’s Bicycle Advisory Board, Mr. Condon would seem to be a very poor fit.
Our greatest asset is the quality of life that we experience with parks, the Centennial Trail and the many organized events like Hoopfest, and Bloomsday. Cycling around Spokane only enhances that experience.
I think David Condon is the wrong person, with the wrong message and the wrong values to lead Spokane as the mayor, based on the way he has started in his campaign.
