Neighborhood’s nightmare

I would like to comment on the letter from Kathy Miotke, “Let neighbors be heard,” Saturday May 28.

Our neighborhood has suffered from our own “Groundhog Day” and “Nightmare on Gordon (Elm) Street” for one year. The city has allowed a tavern to open adjoining a residential area without having enough parking, thus causing many traffic problems for residents. Of course, the powers that be say “they can’t (or won’t is more like it) do anything about it.” I agree with Kathy that the neighbors are the last to know, but we are left with the consequences of ill planning.

Neighborhoods of Spokane, beware. Yours may be the next to change and not for the better. I too urge you to vote for the Community Bill of Rights on the November ballot and for city leaders that will really listen and care.
