Race track tribulations
Back in the mid-1950s, unmuffled modified stock car races were held at the Joe Albi stadium on Wednesday evenings in the summertime. Creating noise and dust was great fun for all except those unfortunate enough to live in any nearby homes.
On Thursday mornings dust was everywhere inside and outside these homes. It was said that at times even the residents of nearby Fairmount were awakened from their peaceful slumber to enjoy the noise and the clouds of dust.
It has been proposed that in Spokane County none of the off-road dirt race tracks on private property will be closer than 250 feet of a nearby neighbor’s home.
Time will tell that this proposed regulation will prove totally unrealistic. A distance of half a mile might be more in tune with the times.
