Welcome diverse art

Despite being criticized by some sadly mistaken individuals, I applaud the Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission for selecting such thematically and culturally diverse sculptures for their new public art program. This is another example of how art not only beautifies but educates.

While a small party has chosen to be offended by the Ganesha sculpture, a much greater throng will no doubt embrace and enjoy it. For the benefit of our children – for the benefit of everyone – our region must abandon such petty examples of racism, censorship and self-righteousness and move toward something more open-hearted, inspiring and worldly. No doubt many good, neighbor-loving Christians agree.

Thank you for listening.
