Catch ‘Carmen’ in 3-D

We’re already into March … and it’s still snowing. Wonder what that says for what the weather’s going to be like for the rest of 2011.

Regardless, opera lovers should like what’s coming to the AMC River Park Square Theatres over the weekend: A special 3D presentation of “Carmen,” produced by the Royal Opera House , will screen in 3-D at 1 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (though times may shift, so check with the theater’s Web site) .

Unlike the programs that play through Regal Cinemas, this will not be a live event .  Instead, it’s actually a movie of the Opera done in 3D. It runs about three hours, and regular 3-D ticket prices apply.

As for the length, you’ll know it’s over when the fat lady sings. Or in this case expires.
