No role in anti-jail group

It has come to my attention that County Commissioner Mark Richard posted recently that I am the new chairperson for No New Jails. I must respectfully submit he is incorrect. And as I am in a better position to know of such things than he, I assure you, dear reader, you must believe me and not him no matter how resolutely he may stick to his “story.”

Having said that, let me be clear, just because I have no standing with NNJ does not mean that I do not have the utmost admiration for their work. They are to be applauded for engaging in true citizenship – that is taking their time, not your money – to truly educate the community on the very real potential risks and costs of building a new jail. They assert, as do I, that not nearly enough has been done to invest in less costly alternatives before ever considering saddling the taxpayers with $199.5 million to $265 million worth of debt.

As to all the other mistruths in his post about me, I will stand by the record which he seems to have rewritten, not surprisingly, to serve his own purpose.
