NW Christian top scorer will return
Northwest Christian’s twin towers, 6-6 Rueben Clark and 6-5 Kwinn Hanson, was cut in half when Hanson took an inadvertent shot to the mouth midway through the second quarter of the Crusaders’ State 2B boys basketball game against LaConnor Thursday morning.
Hanson changed shoes and departed the Arena while his teammates were left adjust without their leading scorer and his almost 19 points a game.
The Braves four-guard lineup almost got the Crusaders, falling 59-57 as Landy James scored 16 points, Mike Wilbur and Kyle McKnight 13 apiece and Spencer Novak 11 points.
NWC guards were up to the challenge with Cole Ramey scoring 16 points and Dakota Winward 15.
As for Hanson, who had six points and three rebounds in his 11.5 minutes, he had got some stitches and is expected to be ready when the Crusaders renew their rivalry with Colfax, which escaped Adna 45-44.
Northwest Christian is in a huge battle with LaConnor, it’s 48-46 Crusaders with 5:30 to go. NWC has been without leading scoring Kwinn Hanson, who left the Arena with his mother in the first half, probably headed to see a dentist after taking an elbow or head to the mouth. Hanson is the team’s leading scorer at 18.9 ppg.
