Sunnyside turns back Neah Bay despite Doherty’s 31 points

Steven Broesma scored 24 points to lead Sunnyside Christian to a 55-50 win over Neah Bay in the State 1B boys basketball championship game at the Arena.

The Bruins were in it until the end as Drexler Doherty scored a 1B tournament record 31 points, matching the  31 Dustin Patchin of Colton had a day earlier - against the Bruins, also in a losing effort (63-60).

It’s the seventh state title for the Knights.
