Don’t fret the funnies

Oh for cracked ice. Are you kidding me? Courtney Blackwell recently wrote a letter (March 10) complaining about the graphic nature of a comic strip? A comic strip? Really?

Here is a news flash people: IT’S A COMIC STRIP! Not only is Tundra the funniest cartoon in this paper each morning, it is the only one I read. “Dennis the Menace” and “Family Circle” ceased being funny about 40 years ago.

Courtney complains that Tundra is “not funny at all” and “very graphic.” IT’S A CARTOON! What is really funny is that Courtney obviously doesn’t see the irony in all this: She doesn’t want to see the cartoon drawing of dead animals while she is shoving bacon and sausage in her mouth for breakfast. Now that is funny. That could be a Tundra cartoon.

Come on, Courtney, aren’t there bigger things in this world to complain about – like the killing of innocent people in Libya, or the representative from Idaho who wants to allow guns on every college campus across America, or the fact that the blue-collar workers, the backbone of this country, are slowly losing their bargaining rights across the U.S.? Really? A cartoon?
