GU, St. John’s stories from Denver

David Stockton of Gonzaga lays up the ball for a score over the defense of USF's Rashad Green (13) after he picked up a steal during first half action at the WCC Tournament in Las Vegas on Sunday, March 6, 2011. (Christopher Anderson / The Spokesman-Review)

Good morning from Denver. We arrived last night, wrote some on the plane, finished up at the hotel, then found dinner and a TV in time to watch Saint Mary’s lose another heartbreaker.

Here’s our GU-related material in today’s S-R: John Blanchette details redshirt freshman David Stockton’s growing impact this season and I put together an article on St. John’s D.J. Kennedy , one of the key players in the program’s turnaround, who will miss the tournament with a torn ACL.

More on the matchup in the New York Post and Daily News , and more on St. John’s Sean Evans (Kennedy’s replacement).

Press conferences from both teams late this afternoon/early evening. We’ll be back with more later.
