Ski plan objections weak

The proposed expansion of the ski area on Mt. Spokane (“Ski area hopes for a lift,” March 14) has drawn out the usual and predictable collection of armchair elitists to oppose it. How many of those opposed have actually done the legwork and have been physically on the ground of which they speak?

You report that the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is opposed. When did this department last have an agent or biologist in the area in question? Is a written report available? Spotting a wildlife agent actually doing fieldwork is one of the rarest sightings in nature.

I have skied some of the terrain discussed in your article. The area of wilderness which would be untouched by the current proposal is vast. It should be ample to satisfy all armchair wilderness enthusiasts.
