Pursuits aren’t worth it

Tell me why are the local law enforcement so intent on catching a traffic violation that they wind up crashing two vehicles, injuring themselves and then arresting a guy for a low-level incident (“Two cops hurt, patrol cars wrecked in chase,” March 13)? Is it really worth it?

To accomplish this they waste tens of thousands of dollars, run the risk of killing themselves or innocent people and engage in a pursuit that never need happen.

If they had just gotten the license number, radioed it in and/or went to the home of the registered owner they’d save themselves and the citizens a lot of grief.

When caught, he winds up having a suspended license, no insurance and evading a policeman. Wow! Some criminal.

Was it really worth it? I think the whole idea of these car chases needs to be looked at by both the city and county sheriff’s office.
