UW’s Thomas headed to NBA

So, I was sound asleep on the plane ride home this morning when I awoke, startled. I think we were somewhere over Kansas. Wichita, maybe? Anyhow, I had this terrible thought Klay Thompson was holding a press conference and I wasn’t there. Imagine my surprise when I get back to Spokane and find out it wasn’t Thompson leaving for the NBA. But somebody was. Read on.

• No, it wasn’t Washington State’s star guard. It was Washington’s. Yes, Isaiah Thomas, who tweeted often after the Huskies last game he was coming back, has changed his mind . And, though he won’t hire an agent right now, he’s not returning to UW for his senior season. Not my words, his. “It is a goodbye,” he told Seattle reporters on a conference call. Now three Pac-10 players have said they will leave and not return: USC’s Nikola Vucevic, UCLA’s Tyler Honecutt and Thomas.
