Fouling the airwaves

Most of us are familiar with the newly developed electronic cigarette. We’ve seen people smoking them, they’ve showed up in recent films, and they’ve even been advertised on television. It is this last form of propaganda that I myself am not comfortable with.

While the smoke you inhale is only water vapor, it still contains an addictive amount of nicotine which, in my book, makes it a true cigarette. And I seem to recall that cigarette commercials were made illegal several years ago. So what’s with this sudden disregard of the law?

I feel that this product should not extend its advertisement to commercials. Regular cigarette brands are forbidden from television; why not e-cigarettes?

Remember, it only takes one spark to start a fire. If we allow these ads to continue, we are opening a doorway to the legalization of all cigarette commercials in general.
