TV role awaits Stuckart

I haven’t been one to watch City Council meetings on Channel 5, let alone attend them. But lately I’ve realized that the issues I care most about are local in nature. Even with the deep recession, some cities are faring better than others. Spokane is a much more vibrant city than it was a couple decades ago, but I think we can do better in terms of economic growth and infrastructure.

I hope the election for City Council president brings with it a relevant debate about ways to move our city forward. Although it’s early in the race, I have heard some of candidate Ben Stuckart’s ideas, and he is clearly on the right track with a business-friendly approach to improving our community.

I have worked closely with Ben on a project to create a school health center in Spokane. He has a great ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people and bring them together for a common cause. Ben is pragmatic, has an eye for results and a relentless drive to just get things done. He has the kind of leadership I look forward to seeing in action on Channel 5 next year.
