Business too greedy

“Compromise and release” is bad business. Many workers with little information or no one to explain consequences will see the lump sum as a lot and take it, finding later it was not nearly enough.

The state needs to cut the budget but not on the backs of the poor and middle-class people. As I retired from teaching, my position went unfilled due to cuts in education. As I read Rep. Timm Ormsby’s guest column (April 30), my frustration rose.

Read the whole paper. Watch big corporations become “people” and deprive us of protections won over the last 100 years.

We are leaving the people defenseless. We cut programs like Meals on Wheels while granting privileges and tax breaks to corporations like ExxonMobil as they turn Idaho highways into their own private shipping lanes. When the citizens try to monitor something they see as bad, they are labeled “terrorist.”

As businesses say they need the breaks to build “jobs,” I see them building their portfolios and paying huge bonuses.

Protect the common citizen. Close tax loopholes. Don’t be swayed by big business tactics.
