Water war misguided

In the name of water conservation, the Spokane city government declared war on green lawns with new water rates.

The collateral damage here is vegetable and flower gardens, air quality and, in general, many families’ way of life.

Spokane doesn’t have a water shortage, but polluted dusty air is the problem here, and dead brown lawns will make it worse.

The new rates are nothing but redistribution of income and forceful advancing of “green” behavior. There will not be much green left after we see our summer water bills. On election day, the people of Spokane should fight back and vote our mayor and everyone else who is behind new water rates out of office.
