Headline humor flopped

Regarding the headline used in Saturday’s paper about the pig that was shot and killed by police, what a pathetic and insensitive attempt at sophomoric humor!

The writer may have thought the attempt at a play on words would garner fans, but it failed miserably with me. Not only that, the headline writer seems to have little to no regard for the fact that an innocent, frightened and confused animal was killed by a law enforcement officer, who found it easier to pull his firearm and brutally end this poor animal’s life than to consider that there just might have been a successful and humane way to corral this animal safely.

And what in God’s name was this woman thinking by transporting such a large animal in a minivan? Pigs are livestock. For the safety of all, she should have had that pig secured in a small livestock trailer. She should get a hefty fine for public and animal endangerment, and the headline writer should be a little more sympathetic to an innocent animal’s tragic death.
