Mary Unhappy With Edie’s Remarks

Even when her side wins, Mary Souza of OpenCDA.com is upset. Seems today’s article about the Coeur d’Alene School Board elections set her off this time. Sez Mary: “With surprisingly rude and divisive comments in t his morning’s Press article , CdA School Board Chairwoman Edie Brooks sent a strong message to the newly elected board members:  You are not welcome here.” It’s hard to see what ticked Mary off this time, other than Brooks’ comment that losing candidate Stephanie Powers would have been good for the board. And this Brooks’ comment: “A lot of people want to be on the board because they have an issue. There isn’t a lot you can do with an issue, unless you have two other people who agree with you. We have a democracy and balance on the school board.” Mild stuff compared to the Reagan Republican gloating higher up in the article. You can read Mary’s comments here.

Question: Will members of the new Coeur d’Alene School Board get along, despite philosophical differences? Or will the monthly meetings evolve into an entertaining side show?
