It’s all in the delivery

Is it just me, or is it sadly ironic that during Teacher Appreciation Week every teacher in the Mead School District received a pink slip? According to the district, because of contractual language, they were forced to send out termination letters to all certificated staff due to the Legislature’s inability to finalize a budget prior to May 15.

Until the Legislature quits playing politics and finishes this task, no one knows exactly how many will actually lose their positions and how much additional pay those that do get to keep their jobs will lose. All this on top of continued threats of increased class sizes and loss of bargaining rights. If that doesn’t say, “You’re Appreciated,” then I guess I just don’t know what does.
