Utility oversight not working

Avista makes the oil companies seem caring. They say they are asking for their third rate increase in 16 months because of old equipment.

Even my tiny company has a long-term upgrade plan for our equipment. Avista doesn’t? You mean they woke up yesterday morning and said, “Oh dear God, our equipment is old”? If they really are that incompetent then the shareholders should pay for the upgrades and fire the people that failed at their job.

Last year I went to the utility commission hearing and watched Spokane’s elderly literally cry since they could no longer afford heat. Avista got every rate increase they have ever asked for.

Spokane has no bigger enemy than Avista, and the utility commission needs serious dismantling and rebuilding.

What can we do? Maybe start a Facebook page and plan on anti-Avista rallies?
