The silent season
This is my favorite time of year, the slow move of fall toward winter. I welcome the change back to standard time and the 4 p.m. darkness.
Even as a child, I loved the foggy post Halloween nights. Mostly, I love how things quiet down. At 9 p.m. in summer evenings, people mow their lawns. In these fall and winter months, the outside is dark and the noises shut off.
Exhale.
