The Slice: Local man, woman make headlines

In recent years, The Slice has dipped into the S-R’s electronic archives to summarize the doings of Spokane man, Spokane woman, South Hill man, North Side woman, Idaho man, Spokane Valley girl, et cetera.

But an important personage has been overlooked.

So today, let’s check on our old pal “local man.”

To be perfectly honest, he sounded a tad evasive when he “told city officials he also has a plan for the property but can’t divulge specifics now.”

Sure. You bet.

But things were looking up when a headline declared that he had been able to “achieve his dream.”

That must have been before another headline broke the news that he “drowns in Lake Roosevelt.”

Of course, there was the time he “reportedly called his girlfriend from jail and asked her to move stolen property from their Liberty Lake home.”

Then there was that fateful morning when he “came across the male victim’s body around 8 a.m. while picking huckleberries.”

That’s quite a rich, full life local man is leading. But what about his better half, local woman?

Well, we were all pleased to read a headline revealing that she “finally finds relief after suffering for years.”

And it’s a good bet that we nodded with approval upon seeing that she “cashes in with cheesecake creation.”

But she wasn’t done yet. Oh, no.

Local woman was also “chosen as NFR assistant secretary” and learned that her entry “wins national contest.”

Meantime, she was “searching for a mobile home for less than $50,000.”

And another day, in an unrelated context, S-R readers learned that she “found herself in the same circumstance four decades ago.”

All this while she “uses vintage glass and a fertile imagination to decorate gardens.”

Talk about having it all.

Of course, it was no joke when she “attempted suicide by slashing her throat with a razor.”

But on a lighter note, who could forget when one wrong letter turned her “full name into something phonetically pornographic.”
